Darshana Khiani is a second-generation Indian American who grew up in rural Pennsylvania and now resides in Northern California with her family. Her skills include writing picture books, debugging customer issues, and solving jigsaw puzzles. However, wearing a sari is not one of those skills. This served as the inspiration for her debut picture book, HOW TO WEAR A SARI, illustrated by Joanne Lew-Vriethoff (Versify, Fall 2020), a story about a peppy young girl who decides to wear a sari to show her family she can do “older” things too.
